The effect of an anomaly on the contents of an FTL drive field was a shock wave that only moved heavy items. It caused dizziness and unconsciousness in suseptable individuals. Because some sectors reported more anomalies, or stronger, it was postulated that they occured in clusters. No changes in gravity, magnetic field or radiation could be detected from within an anomaly, no radio waves could be recorded. Philosophers and occultists found their own explainations for anomalies, but science had little to offer on the subject.

They had few cares beyond his popularity, although it wasn't the fans who were the problem. Generally, the fans allowed Henry and Anasi to lead reletively normal private lives, but the Media reps, telelenses attached and running, hounded him in public, looked in his windows and waited for him outside his door. In those days the Media took any scrap of his life they could get and elaborated on it, embroidering facts and assumptions together, producing an image of "The King; Loins Burgoine" that the public bought along with vids and sound cubes and tickets to his performances.
In response to Media persistance, Anasi aquired a palm sized gray box from her mother. It was smaller than a handcomp, with a knob, a tiny display screen and a red button. When the button was pushed, telelenses near the box emitted a resounding shriek of electronic feedback and then stopped functioning. The display screen located operating telelenses within a radius which could be enlarged by turning the knob. Not being a technician, Henry didn't ask too many questions. The box had an uncertain legality on Lucus, but he appreciated the privacy it provided after Anasi used it to clean the doorstep of VillaDamore a few times. The Media gave them a respectfully wide margin after that; telelens systems are expensive to replace.
